At Adair Shops, we believe in constant improvement. The weight upgrade kits for the Roundhouse / Athearn
60' bulkhead flat car and the 60' flat car are such examples. We have retooled these popular weight upgrade
kits so they can be used for both the earlier Roundhouse kits, and for the current Athearn Ready-to-Run versions.
Installation for the Ready-to-Run cars simply involves removing the trucks and the underframe. Then it is a matter of gently prying the factory weight away from the underframe using a small jewelers flathead screwdriver. At this time, Athearn is using a double sided tape to affix the factory weight to the underframe. Once the factory weight is removed, simply glue our weight segments into place using our Weight Bond glue. Let the glue dry overnight, and then reassemble the car.
